Profile

Koen Teeuwen started at the Catharina Hospital as interventional cardiologist in 2017 after completing his fellowship at the St. Antonius Hospital Nieuwegein.

In 2018 he obtained his PhD at the University of Amsterdam after successfully defending his thesis: ‘Percutaneous coronary intervention with evolving stent technology for treating totally occluded native coronary arteries’.

Koen Teeuwen is passionate about taking the quality of complex cardiac interventions to the next level by generating and sharing knowledge on new methods for complex Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCIs). As such he is principal investigator of several multi-center clinical trials that investigate the effect of novel PCI methods on patient outcome and healthcare costs.

He is course director of a.o. the National Fellow Course Interventional Cardiology, the Basic and Advanced Cathlab course and the Percutaneous Left Ventricular Assist Device (PLVAD) for High-Risk PCI and Cardiogenic Shock course.
